Brilliant Analysis of First Presidential Debate

This is from a friend and it is brilliant!!!

I’ve read several posts concerning last night’s Presidential Debate, with the common consensus being that it was a disappointment and that neither nominee won.  I disagree.  While I have to admit that it was not the debate I had been anxiously anticipating for weeks, in the end, after the dust settled and I had time to process the whole spectacle…I had to smile and remind myself that Donald J. Trump was EXACTLY the man last night that he has always been.  He was unapologetically authentic – never sugar-coating, crawfishing, or buttering his bread on both sides.  He came into the arena like a lion and went out with a roar.  Judge Jeanine Pirro said it best last night on Hannity.  She said Trump is like Daniel in the lion’s den who comes out with a pelt slung over his shoulder and his tie straight.  I find that visual spot on.

There are those who wish the President would keep a tighter rein on his tongue or perhaps be more polite. I have been guilty of thinking the same thing a time or two, but I have to stop and remind myself of one universal fact.  Bananas don’t grow on apple trees, so why in the world should anyone expect him not be true to his own nature?

Some thought he was rude to Biden and steamrolled over him…and it might have even seemed that way at first.  But after reflecting on it…I saw a man who is passionate about his country…who has been fighting an unimaginable battle to defend you and me and this country against forces so evil that they would have taken down a lessor man.  President Trump is like a mighty oak tree in a violent storm.  The wind may howl and uproot everything else around him, but he stands his ground against the forces of nature.  How many of us could have withstood the hailstorm of lies and misinformation and the relentless, pelting criticism which has beat down on the man day and night since first stepping onto the political stage? I suppose in light of everything that has been hurled at him, he has a right to be angry at the way he’s been treated.  Remember my friends, the way our sitting President has been treated is a reflection of how little the dems think of this great country and those who voted him into office.  Their hatred spills over to you and me in everything they say and do…in every bill they block which would aid the American people, every tax dollar they waste at our expense, the years of time-consuming conspiracy theories, frivolous hearings, impeachment trials, and those whose lives they have purposely sought to ruin.  In light of what Donald Trump has been up against from the git-go…not for himself…but to defend you and me from the insane “re-imaginings” of the left, I’d say he deserves a standing ovation for his unshakable fortitude. So, for anyone who thought the President was going to come onto the stage, smile and shake lyin’ Biden’s hand and make nice…you haven’t been paying attention.  The time for making nice is over.  Sleepy Joe is not fooling anyone.  Underneath that cool exterior and Cheshire cat smile, is an insidious worm who would spoil the whole barrel of apples if given a chance.  Trump know this, and so do we.

The gloves are off my friends.  Trump had the democrats against the ropes during the debates.  It was painful to watch at times, but when it was all said and done, I’d still rather have someone in the ring who is willing to fight to the death for me, than someone like the former Vice President who doesn’t have the sense to know that he is up against a heavyweight.  I’m not even sure that two more debates are necessary.  I believe Biden has already gone down for the count…he just doesn’t know it yet.

All too common democrat response

We're driving home from a Trump train rally with our flags on both sides as a car. We stop at a red light and a Mercedes pulls up beside us. The lady in the passenger side of a small Mercedes SUV rolls down her window and says "fuck Trump".

I responded by asking if she just got back from Portland? She shot me the finger, rolled up the window and drove off.

Typical Democrat. No tolerance for any opinion except their own.

Trump Train Rally

Yesterday afternoon I was proud to participate in a Trump Train Rally. All had a great time!!! About 150 vocal pro-Trumper cars lined up and went a few miles around our city. We drove through the most visited shopping area in town. I was amazed at the number of shoppers who shouted support, waved, took pictures and movies while we passed by. I only saw one overt dissenter although it is certainly true that some folks ignored us.

The event was not widely publicized. No PR. We only found about it through friends. It was not in the newspaper; nor was the live event covered by the news. That was a bit disappointing.

So, we are going to work towards another Trump Train Rally and this time it will be heavily promoted in the press. The target date is November 1, just a few days before the most important national election in my lifetime. We're going to shoot for one thousand cars!

BTW, at yesterday's rally the majority of participants were women. Women of all ages. I was truly surprised. And the vast majority of vehicles were mid-sized cars...not trucks...also surprising to me. There were many variants of the Trump Flag and most proudly waved the American flag as well. Lee Greenwood's song "Proud to be an American" blared from many of the cars.

Only one confederate flag...and that was a good thing too. Despite my deep love for all things Southern, in this election, Rebel flags are a distraction to our cause

Timing of Supreme Court Nominations

One of the big problems facing most politicians today is their past. It keeps interfering with what they want to say today. If they make a pronouncement today and if they had an opposing view in the past, it will be found and then played over and over again. Did the person really change their view, or are they just being politically expedient? I guess the answer to that question lies in your degree of cynicism.

We are going to see this in spades (probably politically incorrect term) over the issue of the nomination of a new Justice to the Supreme Court.
It's a shame that this has to happen. For the life of me I can't understand the logic of having a sitting Congress not vote on a replacement judge for this important position during the last year of a president's term. Should her/she not be allowed to make any decisions during his/her last year.? Perhaps they should just take the last year off?
I do agree with the notion that Congress needs sufficient time to consider such a heavy and meaningful matter as choosing a Justice to the Supreme Court.

In today’s world, many traditions are falling by the wayside. It’s time for the traditional “Lame duck session” of congress to end as well. After all we elected our Senators for 48 months, not 46. Yes I know all the arguments, but they simply don’t ring true to me.  You see, each election cycle, most incumbents win re-election; well over 85% of Senators get re-elected each cycle.  A few retire, others just lose they have fallen out of favor with their constituency.

The real reason for the infamous lame duck session is so congress can be home for the holidays.  Don’t you wish you got weeks off for Christmas and Thanksgiving?

Let’s abolish the whole concept of the “lame duck session”. The Senate can work this season just like the rest of us. Two days off for Thanksgiving and two off for Christmas…that’s it! ( I know that many Americans don’t even get that. But they are, after all, privileged.)

Equally sickening is this concept of, upon the death of a member of the Supreme Court, a new one should not be confirmed in an election year.  What nonsense! We, the people, expect the Senate and the president to their job during their tenure in office.

Regrettably, both parties, due to their political shenanigan’s in years gone by have made this issue a horrible mess.  Let’s just fix it by stating this: upon the death of a Supreme Court justice, the president shall nominate a new judge within fifteen days and a new one shall be confirmed by the Senate within forty-five calendar days after the nomination, or the President’s nominee shall be automatically confirmed. Should the passing of the justice occur after November 1 in an election year, no nomination shall be made by the sitting president.

The Houston "Texans"

You may have heard this phrase before: "Once A Texan, always a Texan". While all states have a storied past, I think Texans, as a group, are the most zealous in protecting their state's heritage. Just ask one. So you can image the disdain of most Texans when it was announced that the Houston "Texans" would stay in their locker room during the playing of our National Anthem.  I posted on Facebook a request to conduct a survey to determine if this NFL team should be "ordered" by its fan base to rename the team. For some reason it was taken down within hours.

Why all the clamor you ask? Perhaps this eloquent letter, written by a true Texan, will help you understand our feelings on this matter.

An Open Letter to the Houston Texans
By Mark W. Stephens

When people think of Texans, they rightly think of our heritage. Rugged individuals who came together to forge our Republic. Heroes and fighters. Men and women void of fear. They think of the “Old 18,” eighteen men who stood against the Mexican Army as they tried to claim the Gonzalez Canon and held them off until the Texas Militia arrived. They think of the Texas women who ripped away part of a wedding dress and pieced together that infamous white cloth with a drawing of a Lone Star, a canon, and a simple four-word reply to the mighty Mexican Army… “Come And Take It.”

They think of the “Immortal 32,” thirty-two men from the Texas Militia who marched fearlessly from Gonzales to San Antonio, knowing it would be their last, to unselfishly reinforce their fellow Texans under siege at the Alamo.

They think of the couple of hundred defenders of the Alamo who CHOSE to stay and fight against a couple of thousand Mexican soldiers, knowing it was a death sentence. They think of how those few men held off the powerful Mexican Army for thirteen full days before they offered the ultimate sacrifice for the birth of the Texas Republic.

They think of men like Davy Crockett, Jim Bowie, and Colonel William Barrett Travis, the latter of whom requested reinforcements as he battled the Mexican Army. Knowing in his heart they would never come, still, he wrote, “I shall never surrender or retreat” and he let the world know he understood his fate when he further wrote, “I am determined to sustain myself as long as possible and die like a soldier who never forgets what is due to his own honor and that of his Country. And they think of that tenacious signature that has gone down in the annals of history and will forever be remembered as one of Texas’ proudest moments, “VICTORY or DEATH.”

They think of that day in April 1836, when a rag-tag group of 800 Texas Militia led by General Sam Houston surprised and attacked the much larger Mexican Army of a couple of thousand troops along the banks of the San Jacinto River and ROUTED them, with the cries of “Remember the Alamo!” and “Remember Goliad!” They captured General Santa Anna. They forced the Mexican Army to surrender, they won freedom and independence for all Texans, and they won the hearts and loyalty from all Texans in return. Forever.

These men of character and grit will forever be known as Texans. They earned that title. Those of us who follow in their boot steps and are blessed by the Grace of God to be Texan, try to emulate our forefathers, and try to bring honor, strength, and character to our beloved State and thus earn our own title of “Texan.”

Conversely, your team members wear a uniform calling themselves “Texans” - as the simple participants of a billion-dollar child’s game – and are most assuredly as evidenced by your atrocious behavior on September 10, 2020, undeserving of the title of “Texan.” To be Texan is to be courageous, strong, and brave. Texans don’t bow to outside pressure, political or otherwise. Texans kneel only to God.

You are not Texan.

On the day before the sacred and solemn day of 9/11, where we honor so many of our brave and heroic police officers and firefighters who paid the ultimate sacrifice, you took the football field prior to the playing of our country’s National Anthem, as a team.

And instead of honoring our fallen heroes of 9/11, you chose to honor rapists, robbers, and drug dealers.

Then, prior to the playing of our National Anthem, you fled from the field as a team. You turned your backs on our flag. You turned your backs on our soldiers. You turned your backs on our police officers. You fled to the bowels of the stadium locker room to cower and hide rather than show support for the Flag of the United States of America and honor our heroes here and abroad.

Texans don’t run.

Time and time again, you’ve chosen to honor common criminals like George Floyd, who was convicted of pistol-whipping and robbing a young Houston woman and pointing a gun at her young daughter while his gang robbed this poor woman and her family of all their belongings. A brutal man who repeatedly targeted Hispanics here in Houston for robbery and who ultimately died from a self-inflicted overdose of illegal drugs, while committing yet another series of felony crimes.

Can you imagine the horrors these poor Houston crime victims of George Floyd are having to endure once again because you chose to “honor” the monster who brutalized them and their families?

You honor Breonna Taylor, an alleged criminal suspect in a homicide case and member of an organized drug gang, whose boyfriend shot a police officer while she stood by his side and was ultimately shot and killed herself in the ensuing gunfight.

You honor Jacob Blake, a known woman abuser and active fugitive wanted for the brutal sexual assault of a woman, who then stole her car and her bank card, physically attacked pursuing police officers, then pulled a knife on the officers and attempted to flee in a stolen car with children inside before police officers shot him.

You honor these criminals in the pretense of “supporting” the black community. If you truly wanted to support and honor the black community, you would strongly condemn those who prey upon them. If you truly wanted to support and honor the black community, you would refuse to celebrate black criminals and instead honor their victims.

Imagine a day when little boys realize their only way to make it to the NFL is to commit vicious crimes and attack police officers so the NFL will one-day “honor” them too. That is the dynamic you are creating. By honoring black criminals, you are only perpetuating and glorifying that criminal lifestyle and empowering other vicious criminals to continue their criminal enterprise within and against black communities.

That is not Texan.

Texans don’t honor and support criminals. Period. Texans are proud to protect ourselves, our families, our neighbors, and especially those who are unable to protect themselves from such violent predators. Criminals like George Floyd flee Texas for a reason.

Just so you know, there is a federal statute that directs all Americans on how they should behave and conduct themselves during the presenting of the Flag of the United States of American and the playing of the Star-Spangled Banner, known as our National Anthem.

Title 36, Section 301, sub-section C of the United States Code regarding the National Anthem states in part, "all other persons present (other than those in uniform) should face the flag and stand at attention with their right hand over the heart, and men not in uniform, if applicable, should remove their headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart."

This is not negotiable. You have no valid excuse nor any valid reason to show such disdain and disrespect to our country, our flag, our National Anthem, our soldiers, and our police officers, ESPECIALLY when you represent “Texans” while doing so.

I find it incredibly ironic, if not entirely hypocritical, that an organization like the NFL whose very business platform closely resembles the slave trade days of the old South where men were bought, sold, and traded based on their size and strength, believes they have the moral authority, or any other authority for that matter, to dictate social norms to others. The NFL organization and employees, both current and former, consist of burglars and thieves, drug dealers, abusers of women, rapists, robbers, and murderers. How do you choose which ones to hire, fire, or “honor”? If you’re trying to lead by example, you have failed miserably.

Texans don’t need anyone to tell them how or what to think.

Therefore, it is for the aforementioned reasons that I make a very simple, but reasonable suggestion.

Change the name of your team.

The Houston Texans in their current state, in no way, shape, or form, represent Texas or Texans. Thus, I will support any official petition to change the name of the Houston Texans by removing the word Texans, as I believe you have come to woefully misrepresent those of us who have earned and actually value the title, Texan.

Very simply, you are not Texans.

With All Due Respect,
Mark W. Stephens

VOTE! PARTICIPATE!

Hey Republicans! (Independents skip to below)

This year will be the fourteenth time I vote for President of the United States.  But for the very first time, I will vote a straight Republican ticket. I think you know why! I hope you will too.

I ask that you do one more thing: take a minute and go to http://Democracyatwork.com.  We’ve written simple laws dealing with the important issues of the day. Is trafficking your issue?  It’s there. The constant misreporting coming from the press? It’s there too.  Issues like education, federal employee benefits, firearms, abortion and a host of others are also covered. You may not agree with all of them but read them…most are only a few hundred words long. Leave your comments to help make them better.  We’ll send them off to Congress for you. Get involved! Let’s make America better than ever!

Hey Independents (I am one of you BTW)

Go to http://Democracyatwork.com.  We’ve written simple laws dealing with the important issues of the day. After reading four or five of them (Most are less than a page long.)...and you don't like what you've read, by all means vote Democratic. If, however, they make sense to you, vote Republican.

Vote Straight Republican Ticket?

While re-electing President Trump is very important, it is not the only thing that matters. I can't believe I am about to say this, but I am: Americans with a sense of keeping the American dream alive, need to vote a straight Republican ticket this year. There are worthy democrats out there, but we need conservatives to regain control of our country. We have been out of balance far too long the other way. Portland, Chicago, Seattle, Baltimore, New York City, Washington D. C., San Francisco, Minneapolis and many other cities prove that every day. Defunding police, open borders, sanctuary cities, the tolerance of riots and looting are just so Un-American, yet they are heartily embraced by the Democrat Party. Enough is enough...they must be voted out of office at every level, be it local, state or national.

What is our country's biggest problem? China? Racism? Covid-19? Our National Debt? Nope, it's none of those. After this election, we must all turn our attention to our nation's biggest problem: our entire educational system...from top to bottom. We started going downhill in the sixties and have been in steady decline ever since. Teacher's unions are out of control. State universities are out of control. School systems are out of control. We are dumbing down our national tests. Current curriculums are a joke. Charter schools are not the solution, they're just a bandaid. The problem is much more fundamental than school choice. The student loan programs are a joke, designed to help financial institutions...the kids, not so much. We are simply not preparing our kids for the future and in doing so, we diminish our country's future.
